Six singers at the best of their vocal technique sing in an imaginary language and thus give a luminous “a cappella” production, which proves to be a truly obsessive and magical “spectacular trance”!
Elull Noomi stunningly masters the subtle art of vocal polyphony. The perfectly in tone six voices and their rhythmical precision are impressive. Right from the start, Elull Noomi set their standards so high that the band is already an absolute reference. They place themselves in the great tradition of Progressive Musics with their repetitive and stirring atmosphere, the way their voices complement each other, the fresh melodies and compositions and the beautiful solo flights. Remarkable by its rich and colourful harmonies, on rhythmics which is sometimes light and voluble, sometimes dark and obsessive, Elull Noomi’s music is a risky exercise which never begets dullness!

Biography

“Elull Noomi” was born from the close collaboration between Odile Fargère and Hervé Aknin. They first met in 1993 when they co-created the vocal band “Les Grandes Gueules” in Montpellier. At the time, it was only the beginnings of “modern a cappella”, where the voice is used as an instrument. Everything was still to be discovered in this field, and they stepped into the breach, opened by singers such as Bobby Mac Ferrin, Take Six, Sampling… to quote only the most famous! They tried out all the possibilities offered by the human voice, like bass lines, percussion, brass riffs and solos of saturated guitars! And they did so in all the existing styles: Jazz, Salsa, Bossa, Funk and classical music…

Spurred by the desire to hear and create new things, they decided to work on a project where they wouldn’t be limited by any musical or literary constraint! To create a resonant space where they could let their imagination guide them…they then locked themselves up and started writing what would become “Elull Noomi”.

Hervé Aknin let all his influences, bump into one another, knock each other and finally merge to give birth to 10 to 20 minute-long compositions in the great tradition of Progressive Musics with rich and colourful harmonies, on rhythmics which is sometimes light and voluble, sometimes dark and obsessive

As far as Odile Fargère is concerned, she did what she always wanted to do: create a new language, a real and meaningful language which you can truly communicate with. One by one, she gave each thing a new name in “Elull Noomi”, literally “the language of life”…From the Sun to the Moon, via Love and all the Elements…The Language is sometimes Crystal and Stone, sometimes Wind and Light…It evolved until it gave birth to a dictionary containing all the linguistic elements necessary to tell the story…!

“The Child, sat on the edge of the world, who watched…”
